Maths Mentors
In St. Ronans we have been privileged to be able to avail of the bond established with some of our Secondary Schools. They provide us with students to facilitate mentors for a maths programme, run by the Maths co-ordinator, throughout the whole school.
The Maths Mentors in our school serve as guides and role models, offering our pupils personalised support. They come from various secondary schools in the local area. This year we again have mentors from St. Mary’s H.S, they have been providing mentors for over twelve years. In more recent years they have been joined by mentors from both the Abbey Grammar and S.H.G.S.
Our mentors help pupils to remove barriers to learning, help increase participation, enhance individual learning and raise the children’s achievements.
Our mentors serve as positive role models to bolster self esteem and give the children more opportunities to express themselves in a smaller group setting or individually.
The Mentors have been an asset to St. Ronans Primary School.
